Advocate makes plea for ‘vulnerable’ Palmerston North bus users

An advocate for older bus users has called for Horizons Regional Council to reconsider some changes to its new public transport network.

Horizons launched the country’s first all-electric bus service in Palmerston North at the start of the month, coinciding with a major change to the city’s bus network.

There are more frequent and direct routes in some parts of town, but some areas no longer have a nearby service running through them.

Robyn Douglas spoke to the council at its meeting on Tuesday where she told councillors the new service did not provide for everyone.
