The Victorian Road Maintenance Sham Caused by Freight Victoria

Just 1.6% of Victoria’s dilapidated regional road network will receive maintenance work in the next financial year.

Jacinta Allan believes 98.4% of Victoria’s regional roads are in pristine condition, but her minister for roads, ports and freight Melissa Horne, tells the public heavy vehicles are causing significant road damage in Victoria and are the cause of the potholes.

There is no plan to increase rail freight in Victoria from the historic lows being experienced now. The much announced Port Rail Shuttles are years behind having been announced in 2017 and not delivered by Freight Victoria.

Freight Victoria have a vested and unhealthy interest in promoting road freight over rail freight. This will of course lead to further road damage and increased deaths on Victorian Roads.

Through research all afternoon I was unable to find a rail freight project sponsored by Freight Victoria that had been delivered to the benefit of Victorian’s.

  1. One needs ask how many MPs are receiving kickbacks from the powerful roads d trucking companies plus the cyclists lobby groups promoting rail trials?

As I have a very strong feeling that most MPs in all parties despise being seen travelling on any form of public transport including railway for Regional areas…

As most advisers have some sort tax funded car transport and air plane to get around…..

For transport planning ministers and advisers they should be required to travel public transport as part of their role in those portfolios!

You can’t make informed decisions on transport on public behalf behind PC on a desk! You need reliable data from travelling on them on-site to and foe from ground zero Southern Cross Station in uncontrolled settings on board them as well!

    1. There must be kick backs involved how could the freight transport policy be so poorly implemented.
