V/Line delivers more chaos and incompetence than services

Those who read the ongoing commentary on this site regarding V/Line and the shocking and hopeless management of the Victorian Regional and Suburban passenger Rail Network will not be surprised by the following video outlining yet another complaint in the Victorian Parliament.

Annabelle Cleeland MP pulled no punches supporting her consistuents and calling out the disgraceful service quality now being experienced by V/Line customers.

Another dangerous failure on our regional rail network. A V/Line train lost a carriage near Tallarook, leaving passengers stranded, crammed onto replacement buses, and entire lines shut down. Labor promised better rail, but regional Victorians are being delivered chaos, incompetence and unsafe services. Our communities deserve answers and a plan to restore confidence in the network. 📹 Watch my question in Parliament to the Minister for Public and Active Transport.

This site through its contributors has for some time now provided a blow by blow assessment of the shocking outcomes for passengers on the V/Line network and have shown just how poorly the network is planned and operated.

The former CEO Matt Carrick (another career public servant) left the operator in a very poor state on his departure back to a cushy public service role.

The new CEO is yet another public servant who has been responsible for what has been a department of poor planning outcomes of the rail network including the rolling stock shambles.

William Tieppo has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of V/Line following an extensive recruitment process. The process was so “extensive”, he was taken from a departmental role and parachuted into the CEO position. Extraordinary it was not possible to find an executive with a proven track record in lifting the delivery standard of regional rail services and effectively operating a rail network.

But is this the actual plan? The plan to ensure service levels are not lifted and V/Line continue their downward spiral into the abyss. Finitely planned by the government? If I were the government and wanted to keep the status quo I would do exactly this.

The travelling public should not expect too much to change for the better with a “C Team” in place. I expect it will be downhill at a faster rate from here.

    1. Mike

If you are so unhappy with with this website delete your account you bitter former public servant!!!

It seems you didn’t achieved much to benefit the comminity or improve things or you just hanging around Trolling people who bursts your pitiful narrative happy with mediocrity in vic rail technology whist other States strive for excellence!!!

    2. Mike you seem to be the only person who thinks V/Line is doing a good job, every week services are down and people cannot travel. Warrnambool is now a awful service, bairnsdale people are unhappy, Shepparton services are not working, seymour has issues. Albury has over crowding with head in the sand behaviour.

Is it not the role of a CEO to ensure the organisations charter is being effectively met?
