What may have caused the train derailment at Clifton Hill, an analysis

An excellent analysis of Metro trains derailment at Clifton Hill can be viewed in the included video below.

My thoughts on the July 2025 derailment of a Metro Trains Melbourne suburban X’trapolis train on the Mernda line at Clifton Hill.

This video was a collaborative effort between myself and Alexander Jamieson of the Eltham South Electric Tramway, check out his channel here:    / @melbournesparks3828

We also need an enquiry into the misinformation being sent to the public from the Public Transport Corporation (Transport Victoria) and Metro Trains stating the lines were suspended due to power issues not advising the public of the actual situation.

I don’t put much credibility into what was said by Daniel Bowen clearly not an expert and a misleading statement as the track is not old, but the alignment is dated but not to the point where the line is outside of acceptable limits.

Why did Metro Trains replace the sleepers adjoining the bridge section with wooden type to ensure the interface was better aligned?

  1. Fair analysis showing you don’t need to have a long history at metro trains to know they are not doing the right thing by the public taxpayers.

Don’t renee their contract they are the worst operator in Australia.
