Concerning footage has emerged of teenagers breaking into a Sydney train control room before dangling from the sides of a moving train.
The compilation of clips shows what appear to be teenagers, running a riot on the trains – from hanging off the sides, to breaking into control rooms
The video, posted to social media, shows a group of young teens, dressed in black, standing in the first carriage of a train as one kicks in the door to the driver compartment.
They can then be seen rushing into the compartment and opening an emergency door, which states it is for “Emergencies only”, leading to the outside of the train as it passes through a tunnel.

The next clip shows one of the teens fiddling with what appears to be the train’s horn in the control room.
One young man is then seen hanging off the side of the train, with only one hand holding the railing.
Another, is filmed dangling his legs off the back of the train as it crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
The dangerous trend, also known as buffer riding, sees individuals illegally clinging to the back of train carriages while they are in motion.
The practice is extremely dangerous and poses a significant risk to both the individuals involved and other passengers and railway staff.

An operation conducted by NSW Police last year saw a three-month crackdown on the risky behaviour, with police revealing some offenders engage in the highly dangerous practice purely to gain views on social media.
As of 2023, Transport NSW reported the deaths of eleven people because of illegal trespassing in rail corridors in the past five years.
When approached about the footage, a representative for Transport for NSW said, “This type of behaviour is not only illegal, but it is also reckless and extremely dangerous.”
“Buffer riding is life-threatening for those involved and can have deeply traumatic effects on the people around them, and rail workers, if and when something bad happens.”
This risky behaviour has already resulted in serious injuries on the rail network.
Sydney Trains work with NSW Police to reduce anti-social behaviour and criminal incidents that occur across our network.”

Sydney Trains has also revealed that it is currently testing an anti-buffer-riding device on its services.
The device will make it increasingly more difficult for people to engage in the risky behaviour.
The disturbing footage gathered over 22,000 on social media, but viewers were less than impressed.
“This is not even funny. This is literally idiotic behaviour. NSW Police should be informed of this Illegal and Dangerous Behaviour,” said one person.

Darwin awards comes to mind. BTW…it’s not a ‘control room’. Try drivers cab instead.
