Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop makes Australia’s top infrastructure body’s priority list

It is the first time the contentious project has been listed as a high priority project by Infrastructure Australia.

Talks have stalled over a 20 per cent pay increase over four years.

The 13 four-carriage trains will be built in Dandenong at Alstom’s manufacturing site.

Mr Albanese also revealed next year’s budget would supply more cash for the mammoth Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) project.

New images show the SRL East trains will be state-of-the-art, accessible, safe and comfortable.

But Albanese delivered an even bigger surprise when he confirmed his government would give more funding to Allan’s signature project, SRL East.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese joined Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan on a joy ride through Melbourne’s Metro Tunnel.

Suburban Rail Loop chief Frankie Carroll is paid almost $300,000 more than the Prime Minister.

These include the Burwood, Box Hill and Glen Waverley Stations.

SRL will open up access to Melbourne’s suburbs for all regional Victorians, with transport super hubs at Clayton, Broadmeadows and Sunshine.
