Myki meltdown: Millions wasted as company abandons tech upgrade

A company that was part of the troubled $1.7 billion myki upgrade has been paid millions of dollars to walk away from the project in the latest bungle to hit the system upgrade.

This is firmly on the shoulders of Ben Carroll who as minister approved the failed procurement process and the choice of supplier despite the department not in favour of the winning bid.

In November 2024, The Victorian government and Conduent were reportedly in a legal stand-off over amendments to their contract, due to additional costs and technical work required for the upgrade.

  1. Was always on the cards if you consider the scandal around the appointment of the contractor.
Ben Carroll now the Deputy Premier strikes again he is a walking disaster.

    1. Myki worked perfectly well for me when I travelled on Thursday and yesterday. Seems like sensationalism or Allan government bashing to me.

      1. It works for me too but the article is about the failed tender and replacement system managed by Ben Carroll. This is a serious problem because the actual partner in the new myki programme has walked away from the consortium or sorts.

  2. Hi Brad it must be lovely for some people so be so care free about a serious issue for money to wasted on a Myki upgrade that did not eventuate!!!

when company cut a contact to upgrade, there are financial to hit to the taxpayers aka higher taxes and penalties to do this as the current minister in charge can spend people money with little accountability to their actions as it not their personal funds to worry about!

    1. And Ben Carroll was the minister who was very involved in the tendering process for the new system. The word was the department wanted a different outcome and were silenced.
