Hamilton City councillors urge Govt to find sweet spot between public transport and roads

Hamilton’s City leaders are urging the Government to find the sweet spot between public transport and roads as the Hamilton-Auckland commuter train looks increasingly like a political football.

User pays, bus services and funding models were also top of mind as Hamilton City councillors discussed a submission on the draft Policy Statement for Land Transport 2024-34.

Economic development committee chairperson Ewan Wilson was shocked at the lack of specific support for the Government to keep funding the five-year Te Huia train trial.
