Government to review Te Huia train services and funding

With the multi-billion dollar Auckland light rail project formally axed, there are fresh questions about the Government’s appetite for continuing the Hamilton-Auckland Te Huia passenger rail trial.

Transport Minister Simeon Brown on Sunday announced the canning of the Auckland project, which he said would now have cost taxpayers some $15 billion with the possibility of the bill jumping to nearly $30 billion.
