A new artificial intelligence (AI) system is set to be implemented by the Federal Aviation Administration as early as 2026, as part of the federal officials’ plans to modernize the US air traffic control system. The system, which is known as ‘Smart’, is an acronym for Strategic Management of Airspace Routes and Trajectories.
