UK Prime Minister Considers X Ban Over AI Deepfake Abuse

Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated all options, including a potential ban on X, remain open after users prompted Grok to create non-consensual sexualized images from real photos.

He urged regulator Ofcom to act quickly, backed by Technology Secretary Liz Kendall, while Ofcom launched an expedited probe into X and xAI. X restricted Grok’s image features to verified paid users, but Downing Street dismissed the response as insufficient, amid free speech pushback from Elon Musk and US figures warning of retaliation.
