Philipp Kurek has been named as head of the Bosch Engineering’s rail technology division. He succeeds Heiko Mangold, who is taking on a new role outside the Bosch Group. Kurek leads the rail technology activities in addition to his current role as head of the off-highway division.
Kurek, who holds a degree in industrial engineering and management, joined Bosch in 2003 and has held a variety of roles across the company. Since 2016, he has led the entire Off-Highway division at Bosch Engineering, which encompasses industries such as agriculture, construction, and marine. In this role, he has been responsible for the development and market launch of solutions for electrification, environmental perception, and automation for mobile machinery and boats.
“I am very much looking forward to this new role and to being part of shaping the future of rail mobility. Through closer interlinking with the Off-Highway division, we can leverage synergies in our proven system platforms even more effectively and offer our customers efficient, safe solutions,” he said. In both the off-highway and rail sector, environmental perception and assistance systems as well as automation play a key role.
Bosch Engineering develops and markets customized assistance systems for tram and train drivers based on proven, mass-produced technology from the automotive sector. Its collision warning system for trams and streetcars is already improving safety in more than 50 cities worldwide.
