Passengers can resume journeys between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames this morning after Network Rail completed essential engineering work.
Five days of round-the-clock work took place on the branch line to replace 100m of track, sleepers and ballast to keep the railway running safely and smoothly.
The railway was temporarily closed so the work could take place safely and efficiently but trains are now running again.
Maintenance tasks took place, such as clearing overgrown vegetation. Structural surveys were also completed on Shiplake viaduct that carries the railway over the River Thames ahead of potential future work.
Network Rail programme director Jason Pankhurst said: “We’ve worked non-stop to ensure this project was successfully completed and to get trains moving again.
“It’s essential we continue to maintain the railway and replace equipment that’s reached the end of its working life to keep journeys safe and reliable.”
