The speed of rail freight transport is not determined solely by locomotives and line capacity. The speed and accuracy with which a carrier can process operational information is also playing an increasingly important role. The Sawana mobile app brings the collection of this information directly onto the tracks. Pavel Mazač, Director of the Rail Freight Transport Division at OLTIS Group, explains why simply replacing paper with a tablet is not enough, and where the digitalisation of wagon inspectors’ work is heading.
