Network Rail and South Western Railway have announced that the Island Line, which runs from Ryde Pier Head to Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, will close for essential maintenance work on Friday, 6 September.
Network Rail is warning Greater Anglia passengers that they face disruption next month as it replaces rails and sleepers between Battlesbridge and Southminster that are more than five decades old.
