Radio Veteran Peter Ford Leaves Melbourne for Gold Coast After 40 Years

News anchor in a gray suit sits at a desk with papers, city skyline on a screen behind him; a bold blue headline overlays the image.

Ford, known from 3AW radio and Channel 7’s The Morning Show, cited multiple attempted break-ins at his home and homeless people nearby as key reasons for his move, along with Chapel Street’s decline into empty, dirty shopfronts.

He decided to leave six months ago and is taking his first day off in 40 years this week to pack.

While some sympathise with his safety concerns amid rising Victoria burglaries, others point to the Gold Coast’s comparable crime rates and note Melbourne’s recent title as the world’s best city for 2026.

ON radio this week he stated he had been targeting on Social Media well don’t make derogatory comments about Melbourne and expect no reaction. Thank fully he is now on the Gold Coast (Gods waiting room).
