Minister Anika Wells Faces Questions Over Taxpayer-Funded Trips

Communications Minister Anika Wells drew scrutiny for trips including a September New York visit to promote Australia’s under-16 social media ban at the UN, costing almost $100,000 in business class flights approved by the Prime Minister’s office.

In June, she claimed $2,845 for a Thredbo sports festival where she announced funding while her family skied under family reunion rules.

Other expenses covered Paris Olympics dinners and an Adelaide trip that included a friend’s birthday; Wells says all passed finance guidelines amid cost-of-living concerns, though the opposition calls them outrageous.
