The airline, which has a fleet of more than 990 aircraft as of August 2025, has the second-largest commercial airline fleet in the world, sitting only behind United Airlines. The American fleet includes a mix of Airbus and Boeing narrow-body aircraft, as well as an all-Boeing wide-body fleet.
