History: How & Why America West Airlines Stopped Flying

A major airline that operated in the United States for over 25 years, America West Airlines was launched in 1981 and eventually merged with US Airways in 2007. Like many airlines of the time, it struggled due to the global air travel downturn that resulted from the attacks on September 11th, 2001.
