Where Are The World’s 174 Only Remaining Boeing 747-400s?

The origin of the Boeing 747 program was to build an extra-large military transport for the United States Air Force. Boeing lost to Lockheed, which went on to build the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy for the Air Force. Boeing took its designs and developed the 747 commercial jet that proved to be an excellent success, with around 1,500 examples delivered by the time the project ended in 2023. The Boeing 747 Jumbo first entered service with Pan Am in 1970.
