Man stabbed outside Melbourne shopping centre

A man has been stabbed in a terrifying attack at a busy shopping centre in Melbourne’s northwest.

Emergency crews were called to Homer Street near Moonee Ponds Central in the city’s northwest about 4.35pm on Monday.

Police arrived to find a man with neck and chest injuries and another being pinned to the ground by members of the public.

In videos obtained by 7NEWS, the man can be heard repeatedly yelling “Allah Akbar”.

The two men had reportedly been arguing before one drew out a knife and stabbed the other in the neck.

Five passersby quickly performed a citizens arrest on the alleged offender who then began screaming ‘allahu akbar’.

Witness Liam Clifford saw what happened and said the scene was quite confronting.
