Few aircraft of the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis are as iconic as the Lockheed U-2 Dragon Lady spy plane. It was the U-2 that took the photographs of the missiles in Cuba, which led to the crisis of 1962, and it was the only American aircraft to be downed during the intense confrontation. Today, the Dragon Lady is one of the oldest military aircraft designs still flying for the US Air Force. Its retirement is a matter of time.
