On 25 May 1953, the North American F-100 Super Sabre entered the skies, performing its first test flight despite months of production setbacks caused by delays and factory strikes by employees of manufacturer North American Aviation. The F-100's service entry would mark a new period of fighter aircraft technology and set the standard for manufacturers to follow for generations.
