CFM International, a Franco-American engine manufacturer that was launched as a joint venture between two of the world’s largest engine makers, was founded in 1974 by General Electric (GE) Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines. The manufacturer, which has continued to build turbofan engines for fifty years, remains the world’s largest commercial aircraft engine builder worldwide, making around 40% of the world’s engines in 2020.
