As part of next year’s Railway 200 events, a celebration of 200 years of the modern railway, a search is underway to find the UK’s longest-serving railway family.
The Severn Valley Railway is joining other UK heritage railways on New Year’s Day in a nationwide ‘whistle off’ to herald the beginning of Railway 200.
In Darlington on 19 September, organisations and communities were encouraged to become involved in Railway 200 celebrations to mark 200 years of the modern railway.
