Transpennine Route Upgrade places apprentices at heart of Northern rail ambition

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is close to reaching the halfway mark of its ambitious aim to take on 590 apprentices across the rail upgrade between Manchester and York, via Leeds and Huddersfield.
The Severn Valley Railway held its fifty-second Annual General Meeting on Saturday 22 June, with Chair Chris Walton explaining to shareholders that the Railway had faced ‘commercial turmoil’ in 2022-2023 and had made substantial cost savings.
