Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 22, 2022, Russia’s national flag carrier Aeroflot flew to 146 destinations worldwide, including four in the United States of America. Besides the sanctions imposed on anything Russian and the closure of airspace, Russian airlines like Aeroflot leased most of their Western-built aircraft.
