PM labels attack on Josh Burns’ office in Melbourne as ‘serious’

Federal MP Josh Burns has described a vandalism attack on his Melbourne electoral office as “ugly and reckless”, while the Prime Minister has also called out the “serious” incident.

The MP for Macnamara’s office on Barkly Street in St Kilda was extensively damaged after a group of six people smashed windows and painted walls with anti-Semitic slogans about 3.20am.

Police confirmed the group also started two small fires: one beside the office entrance and another outside the door facing the street where residential apartments are located.

”Zionism is fascism” was spray-painted across the front of the office.

Burns fronted media today to condemn the “politically motivated attack”.

“It was reckless vandalism of my office,” he said.
