Congestion clears after serious four-vehicle crash on Melbourne freeway

Multiple lanes of a major freeway in Melbourne’s south-east have reopened following a serious crash.

All citybound lanes were previously closed about 6.15am after three cars and a motorcycle collided between EastLink/Police Road and Wellington Road. 

The female motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital.

Police said the drivers of all of the vehicles stopped at the scene.

The driver of a Nissan hatchback suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Nissan Patrol, a 34-year-old Pakenham man, is assisting police with their enquiries.
