Network consolidation is inevitable at the best of times, and major carriers like Delta Air Lines are not exempt. External pressures such as high fuel prices have forced airlines to be more clinical than usual with their route cuts this year, with the Atlanta-based SkyTeam founding member having axed a combined 15 routes from its top three hubs by flights and passengers. These are Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis.
