Rail contractor QTS Group has worked with Network Rail, on behalf of Scotland’s Railway, to deliver a programme of improvement works at Leithland Neighbourhood Centre in Pollok, Glasgow.
The works were completed at no cost to the centre and have made the building safer and more welcoming for local people of all ages.
The centre is a well-used local hub. It runs a community café, sports and dance classes, and activities for children, adults and older people, as well as a shop selling pre-loved shoes, clothing and toys.
QTS and Network Rail carried out a range of internal and external repairs. The team replaced damaged internal fire doors, repaired and repainted external windows, and replaced downpipes and facades. They also cut the grass and trimmed the hedges to tidy up the outdoor spaces.
QTS also created a dedicated green space where the café and residents can grow their own fruit and vegetables. The team planted a selection of fruit trees and built planters for future crops.
