A test run that was carried out under the cover of darkness has delivered some long-awaited news for Warrnambool’s train commuters.

Testing began in August 2026, with the longer trains scheduled to roll out for regular passenger service later in the year.

Conductors will use on-board announcements and door banners to assist passengers with safe boarding and exiting at stations with shorter platforms.
