Australian data center firm GreenSquare is proposing a new Data Centre facility at 44–76 Simcock Avenue in Spotswood, Melbourne. The MEL1 project could deliver 240MW of IT capacity across three stories, targeting a 2027 go-live date.

Massive Campus – MEL1 will offer 240MW of IT capacity across three stories, making it a significant addition to Melbourne’s digital infrastructure.
Water-Smart Cooling – The site will use a closed-loop hybrid cooling system that recirculates water and operates water-free for most of the year, boosting sustainability.
Strategic Location – Situated in an established industrial precinct with access to existing transport and digital infrastructure, the former petrochemical storage site is ripe for redevelopment.
Regulatory Progress – GreenSquare has filed an application with the Victoria Department of Transport and Planning, moving the project forward.
Company Momentum – Acquired by Swiss private equity firm Partners Group in March 2025, GreenSquare is also developing a former IBM site in Sydney after dropping its Perth project earlier this year.
This campus will greatly help solidify Melbourne as a key data centre hub in the region.
