Ben Carroll announced a streamlined cabinet of 20 members on Tuesday, down from 22, to save taxpayer money after taking over from Jacinta Allan in late July.

Key appointments include Gabrielle Williams as Deputy Premier overseeing education, skills, women, and First Peoples; Jaclyn Symes handling energy and environment; and Steve Dimopoulos adding equality to his sport and work safety roles.

The lineup introduces a new AI portfolio while dropping transport infrastructure, drawing praise for experience and some criticism over familiar faces amid ongoing local issues like potholes.

Polling this last week has found the appointment of Ben Carroll as Premier of the state has translated to any favourable changes in polling.
