Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan Vows to Fight Leadership Challenge from Deputy Ben Carroll

Deputy Premier Ben Carroll reversed his recent pledge of support and plans to nominate against Allan if a leadership spill happens at Tuesday’s party room meeting, amid Labor’s dismal polls showing primary vote at 21-26 percent and her approval at minus 39-42 percent.

The crisis stems from voter frustration over cost-of-living pressures, debt, infrastructure delays, crime, and union scandals after 12 years in power.

A cross-factional group met Allan on Monday to urge her resignation, but she confirmed she’ll contest any ballot, potentially triggering a five- to six-week process before the November 28 election.
