Egis in the UK & Ireland has landed a major contract with Transport for London (TfL), securing a place on the capital’s Professional Services Framework and positioning the firm at the heart of London’s infrastructure ambitions. The multi-year appointment is a strategically significant win for Egis, that opens the door to some of the most ambitious urban transport projects currently in development in Europe and marks a decisive step in the firm’s long-term growth in the UK.
Under the contract, which commenced on 20 April, the Egis Transport team will provide programme and project management services, along with procurement support, across TfL’s ambitious portfolio of infrastructure developments. These appointments position the firm to contribute to improvements across TfL’s full range of transport modes, including London Underground, London Overground, DLR, the bus network and wider city infrastructure.
Through the Programme & Project Management Lot, Egis will support schemes throughout their full lifecycle, from early-stage business case development through to delivery. Delivery will be undertaken through a joint venture partnership with a UK based SME specialising in programme management services.
Under the Procurement Lot, Egis will provide specialist commercial and procurement advice across TfL’s operations. This will include early market engagement, supplier soundings and the development of procurement strategies, as well as support through tender evaluation, negotiation and contract award.
TfL’s current business plan outlines the potential for a number of major and complex programmes across the transport network. As these projects are developed and priorities are confirmed, they are expected to require strong programme and commercial management capability to support effective delivery. Through its appointment to the Professional Services Framework, Egis offers TfL a flexible and established route to access specialist expertise as and when requirements arise.
The appointment also strengthens Egis’s growing presence in London’s metro and underground sector, building on its longstanding work with Network Rail and major UK transport programmes. It is underpinned by the firm’s international expertise in delivering large-scale metro and urban transport systems, most notably its pivotal involvement in Grand Paris Metro, one of Europe’s most ambitious metro developments.
Through its work with TfL, Egis aims not only to bring global best practice to the capital, but to learn from one of the world’s most mature and forward-thinking transport authorities, ensuring that insights from London continue to shape its international work.
Robert Wade, transportation commercial director and head of professional services at Egis in the UK & Ireland, said: “TfL is one of the world’s great transport authorities, demanding, complex, and constantly innovating. That’s exactly where Egis wants to be.
“We’re bringing our global experience to London, including lessons from Grand Paris Metro, one of Europe’s most ambitious metro programmes, but we’re just as excited about what we’ll take away from working alongside TfL’s teams. You can’t deliver complex infrastructure well without genuine partnership and collaboration. That’s what we’re committed to building with TfL. Together, we can help deliver the transport infrastructure that enables London to thrive.”
