Man Charged with Murder of Five-Year-Old Girl in Alice Springs

Mugshot of a middle‑aged Black man with a stern, intense expression, short curly hair, wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Jefferson Lewis, 47, who had just been released from prison, turned himself in and now faces murder charges over the girl’s abduction on April 25, 2026, with her body found five days later.

Her death led to riots by around 400 people, including clashes with police, hospital attacks, and $105,000 in damage at a service station, prompting 11 arrests for rioting and looting.

The family expressed relief at the charges and called for calm, while Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price blamed substandard housing, alcohol abuse, and child neglect for ongoing issues in town camps.

A 5 year old girl is murdered so these clowns start looting. They were in such a frenzy some people even stole shelving! Over 200k worth of stock/damage. What the hell does stealing food have to do with what happened?

Police are on high alert as healing ceremonies continue and investigations proceed.

  1. Monkeys are prone to go into an uncontrolled frenzy when in heightened states over sudden extreme actions in their environment. If only we could ask them why, but they obviously aren’t intelligent enough to explain.
