New figures released by ScotRail show that more than 800,000 passenger journeys were made during the Easter weekend.
The train operator recorded 802,367 passenger journeys between Friday 3 and Monday 6 April 2026 – up 4% on Easter 2025 when 772,040 journeys were made.
The increasing number of people travelling shows the growing demand for rail travel during the Easter period where customers have been travelling in significant numbers for family visits, shopping trips, and Easter events.
ScotRail is encouraging even more families to make the most of the Easter holidays by taking advantage of its Family Pass, which provides seven consecutive days of unlimited travel for up to two adults and four children.
Commercial Director Claire Dickie said: “It’s great to see so many people choosing to travel with ScotRail over the Easter weekend, with more than 800,000 journeys made across the country.
“These strong passenger numbers highlight the continued demand for rail travel, whether customers are visiting family, enjoying days out, or travelling to Easter events.
“We’re proud to play our part in helping people get to where they need to be, and we look forward to welcoming even more customers on board in the weeks and months ahead.”
