Parkville Railway Station opens its concourse a week early

The Parkville Railway Station on Melbourne’s new Metro Tunnel railway line will open its concourse a week earlier than trains will be available in a move sure to excit those who are looking forward to using the service.

The underpasses at Parkville Station will connect passengers to jobs, services and to visit the people they love – easier and quicker. When the Metro Tunnel opens on Sunday, Victorians can catch a train straight to the Parkville hospital precinct and the University of Melbourne for the first time.

At the same time the head of the United Fire Fighters Union has sought a legal intervention to stop the opening of the Metro Tunnel due to perceived safety risks. The claim is believed to include allegations of criminal activity in the signing off of the underground communications system which has never worked.

Given the communications system implementation probably involves Victrack there could be some truth to the issues.
