Fargo has strengthened its intermodal technology portfolio with the acquisition of Bankside Systems, the creators of Intermodal Manager (IM), adding a TOS to its TMS product line.
IM is a cloud-based, web-native Terminal Operating System (TOS) designed for inland terminals, depots, and intermodal hubs to manage container, equipment, and yard operations more efficiently. Users include SJG Haulage & Commercial Workshop in Southampton and UK terminal operator Solent Stevedores.
Fargo (previously Fargo Systems), is a leading provider of transport management system (TMS) software in the UK for transport industry operators, including shipping lines, rail operators, hauliers and freight forwarders. Its flagship product is the TOPS TMS.
“This strategic acquisition broadens our product range, improves our intermodal planning capabilities, and aligns with our mission to deliver smarter, more connected, and more efficient container management solutions for customers across road, rail, and maritime operations,” said Stephen Collins, Managing Director, Fargo. “This acquisition marks another milestone in Fargo’s growth. We’re excited to welcome Intermodal Manager’s customers and partners into the Fargo community as we continue shaping the future of integrated logistics technology.”
Ian Rogerson, formerly Managing Director of Intermodal Systems and now Terminal Systems Product Director at Fargo, said the acquisition creates new opportunities. “Fargo shares our vision for modernising intermodal management and reducing operational complexity,” he said. “This acquisition enables us to provide even greater value to our customers and speed up the platform’s future development.”
Rebrand reflects digital logistics transformation
The acquisition follows Fargo’s recent rebrand, which Managing Director Stephen Collins described as a major milestone for the company. “This acquisition marks another milestone in Fargo’s growth,” he said. “We’re excited to welcome Intermodal Manager’s customers and partners into the Fargo community as we continue shaping the future of integrated logistics technology.”

The rebrand, unveiled earlier this year, positions Fargo as a technology-driven partner for what they describe as the rapidly changing freight landscape. Collins added that the industry is transforming at pace. “For many years, our customers have known us as a trusted provider of intermodal transport management software,” he said. “However, the industry is changing fast. Automation, data-led decision-making and AI are reshaping how logistics teams work. Our new brand reflects who we are today. [We are] a technology-driven partner empowering smarter, more efficient fleet, yard and container operations.”
Focus on integrated systems and UK logistics hubs
Under its new structure, Fargo’s software suite will be unified under its branding. Intermodal Manager will be rebranded as Fargo IMTM (Intermodal Terminal Management). It will sit alongside Fargo TOPS for intermodal transport management (covered at its development by WorldCargo News) and Fargo YARD for container yard operations. The company said this streamlined structure simplifies customer deployment and supports integration across fleets, depots and port terminals.
With Fargo IMTM now integrated into its operations, Fargo is expanding its product development capacity and extending its influence in global logistics technology. “The Fargo brand expresses our purpose, our product strengths and our role in supporting customers through an evolving logistics landscape,” said Paula Bennett, their Marketing Manager. “It brings clarity to our platform, confidence in our direction and a shared identity that reflects who we are now and who we’re becoming.”
