Ukraine has sat at the forefront of military aviation for years – Antonov and much of the USSR’s aviation industry was based in the Ukrainian SSR. The world’s largest military aircraft, the famous strategic cargo airlift Antonov 225 Mriya, was built in the Ukrainian SSR and has been a mark of national pride for the independent Ukrainian nation. However, the USSR collapsed early in the program’s production, leaving one complete and one partially built.
