When comparing the size of the world’s largest air bases to the world’s biggest commercial airports, it is the military installations that dwarf their civil counterparts. For example, one of the largest airports in the world – Denver International Airport (DEN) – has an area of 34,000 acres (137.8 km²), which is less than 8% of the total area of the world’s largest air force base.

While the US President’s flagship executive transport comprises a pair of modified Boeing 747s, other countries have opted for smaller jets – though still large relative to other nations. Like the UK, France, and some other nations, Canada’s flagship executive transport is now the Airbus A330.The Canadian government aims to convert all of these to multi-role tanker transports (MRTTs) in the future.
