Ever since the United States Air Force (USAF) was spun off and established as a separate military branch in 1946, briefly after the end of World War II, the branch has been the backbone of the country’s military capabilities. In addition, the USAF established the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve to expand its military presence further.
