What are the world’s remaining examples of the original Boeing 747-100 variant? The Boeing 747-100 variant of the Jumbo jet first entered service in 1970 with Pan Am and was followed into service by the Boeing 747-200 in 1971. While production ended in 2023, it remains in service around the world, mostly with cargo airlines. The Jumbo has been mostly removed from passenger service, although Air China, Lufthansa, Korean Air, and Rossiya Airlines (which reactivated some aircraft amid sanctions) still fly scheduled passenger services with the 747.
