We’re introducing a new timetable from mid-April, with 50 new or extended weekend services being added across the Ballarat, Ararat, Warrnambool and Bendigo lines
Ballarat Line passengers will get 33 extra services, with trains running every 40 minutes on weekends between 8am and 9pm.
On the Ararat Line, eight new weekend services will be added, with two new return services on Saturdays and Sundays, including a 9.15pm Saturday service from Southern Cross.
Five new weekend services will be added to the Bendigo Line, including late-night trains from Melbourne to Bendigo.
Warrnambool Line passengers will benefit from five daily weekend return services and also get modern and reliable VLocity trains on all services.
These latest services are part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to deliver almost 200 extra weekend services, which are being rolled out progressively across our network.
Two Geelong Line trains will also be extended through to Waurn Ponds Station every weekday morning, giving passengers in Waurn Ponds more travel options.
The new Ballarat, Ararat and Bendigo line timetables start on 13 April with the Warrnambool line timetable starting on 14 April.
All new timetables will be available to view on the V/Line website from 14 March.
V/Line adds extra services and more weekend travel options
For the Warrnambool line they still haven’t sorted out the teething problem with the possibility of traveller who do coach transfers after getting off those not fit for purpose VoLcitys DMU seeing a empty vending machine at Warrnambool station for food and drinks…..
Some got very little time for food and drinks and no eating and drinking applies on most coaches….
Plus V/line staff and mangment aren’t responsible for ensuring the vending machine are well stocked beforehand as they 3rd party contracted providers….
This not very well thought out or executed….
Now hearing from vline that the management is considering operate a VoLcity to Bendigo and Loco haul from Bendigo to Swan Hill!
I haven’t heard about this concept since the bogie exchange era when X wagons were in service….
It reminds me of the era when a break of gauge ie: Albury the BG train stopped there and all people, livestock, goods all got off and board another train SG to continue their journey interstate…
It seems to they be in process of considered doing this on the same line!
Is this a admission by their management the the VoLcity are breaking down more frequently and can’t handle the longer routes?
If so, why are they in such hurry to withdrawal the older trains that can handle those longer distance routes?
Older trains?
Some of the N sets have been recently serviced and refurbished and are in excellent condition. I am not sure V/line know what they are doing they are such a management mess and with the new timetable, they probably don’t have the rolling stock available if there is an issue with servicing of the vlocity garbage.
Brad some the N set have been on rail for 60-65 years compared with Volcity that 25 plus years…
V/Line are in crisis and cannot manage the network. Stupid decisions on Rolling Stock choice and a lack of understanding about how longer distance rail routes should work and the complaints from V/Line customers have created a crisis.
