As investigators are trying to piece together what may have caused American Airlines flight 5342 to crash into the Potomac River Wednesday night, new details have emerged about air traffic control (ATC) staffing at the time of the incident. The stricken regional jet collided with a US military-operated Sikorsky H-60 helicopter seconds before it was due to land in the nation’s capital.
