Turkey appears to be moving towards purchasing the European Eurofighter Typhoon. This is part of a much larger picture in which Turkey is trying to massively upgrade its existing fighter jet fleet. Turkey remains expelled from the fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter jet program, is purchasing new F-16 Block 70s from the United States, is upgrading many of its aging F16s, and is developing its own fighter jet called the KAAN.
