While jet fighters debuted in World War II ( both the British Gloster Meteor and German Me-262 jet fighters saw action at the end of the war), the first time they were used at scale and found themselves in jet-on-jet dogfights was in the Korean War. This was a time when Soviet jet fighters enjoyed a rough technological parity with their US counterparts (however briefly).
