Russia has been invading Ukraine for coming on three years, and Ukraine has stoutly resisted the invasion and even drove Russia out of almost half of what it took in the first few weeks of the war. Many commentators thought the numerically massive Russian Air Force would overmatch its much smaller and older Ukrainian counterpart, but this didn’t happen.
