Legislation to create ‘Great British Railways’ will be presented to Parliament today (Wednesday 5 November 2025), with the government claiming that it is “paving the way for a simpler, more reliable network, which puts passengers before profits”.
This Sunday (12 October), Greater Anglia’s services will transfer into public ownership under Great British Railways (GBR). This will mean that half of Britain’s train operators will no longer be owned by private companies.
Next Sunday, 20th July, train services operated by c2c will be transferred to public ownership.
